Laura E. Polizzi focuses her practice primarily on complex domestic litigation (divorce, custody, paternity, child support, parenting time), but also offers considerable expertise in an array of business, real estate, probate and criminal matters, as well as other litigation. She believes her strong suit as a practitioner is her ability to adapt in complex cases and her willingness to immerse herself in her cases in an attempt to get her clients the best results possible. Laura also represents several local businesses with both their contractual and litigation needs.
Laura was sworn into practice before the United States Supreme Court on November 28, 2022 and has been honored by Super Lawyers as a 2018 through 2024 Michigan Rising Star. She is currently a Director of the Macomb County Bar Association and a Director of the Macomb County Bar Foundation. She served as President of the Women’s Lawyers Association of Michigan Macomb Region 2020-2021. Laura has been selected as a representative for the 16th Circuit Court in the State Bar of Michigan Representative Assembly and State Bar of Michigan Character and Fitness Committee. Laura is on the Human Resources Committee for Turning Point. In addition to her other positions, Laura has served as a faculty member for Society of Active Retirees (SOAR) at Macomb Community College.
In 2015, she graduated from Thomas M. Cooley Law School and while in law school she served as a clerk for the Hon. Mark Switalski (16th Circuit Court), assisting with the civil docket, including drafting opinions on an array of legal matters. Following her clerkship, she worked for the Oakland County based Family Law Assistance Project, which provided family law services to indigent persons and persons in dire need of legal assistance, including many Spanish-speaking clients. Laura is fluent in Spanish.
